Indexable introduces, MWW, a micro-wave sintered whisker reinforced ceramic

Indexable introduces, MWW, a micro-wave sintered whisker reinforced ceramic. It is composed of aluminum oxide reinforced with silicon carbide whiskers to provide a ceramic composite with high mechanical strength and fracture toughness.

There are several key advantages of microwave sintering:

  1. Micro-wave sintering limits grain growth which helps maintain hardness while increasing toughness.
  2. By cold pressing, Indexable can be more cost effective and can create more complex geometries.

The MWW grade covers a wide variety of applications pertaining to the machining of high-temperature alloys such as Inconel, Stellite, Waspaloy, and Hastelloy commonly found in Aerospace applications.
