Indexable introduces, MWW, a micro-wave sintered whisker reinforced ceramic
Indexable introduces, MWW, a micro-wave sintered whisker reinforced ceramic. It is composed of aluminum oxide reinforced with silicon carbide whiskers to provide a ceramic composite with high mechanical strength and fracture toughness.
There are several key advantages of microwave sintering:
- Micro-wave sintering limits grain growth which helps maintain hardness while increasing toughness.
- By cold pressing, Indexable can be more cost effective and can create more complex geometries.
The MWW grade covers a wide variety of applications pertaining to the machining of high-temperature alloys such as Inconel, Stellite, Waspaloy, and Hastelloy commonly found in Aerospace applications.
